2016 Statement of Product Compliance
Port Townsend Paper Corporation provides the following disclosures to our customers:
FDA Letter of Guarantee:
All unbleached pulp, Kraft paper and containerboard products are hereby guaranteed, as of the date of
shipment or delivery, not to be adulterated of misbranded within the meaning of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, as amended and
are not products which may not be, under Section 404. 505 or 512 of said Act introduced into interstate commerce.
Port Townsend Paper further certifies that the above listed products comply with the below listed FDA regulation or FCN for use as
components of, and otherwise in the production of, packaging for direct contact of all foods as defined in Table1 of 21 CFR 176.170(c) and
conditions of use C, E, F, and G as defined in Table 2 of 21 CFR176.170(c) except food types VI-A and VI-C.
Heavy Metals Content:
The following heavy metals are not intentionally added to any product and the trace concentrations do not exceed the specified levels:
antimony (60ppm), arsenic (25ppm), barium (500ppm), cadmium (75ppm), chromium (60ppm), lead (90ppm), mercury (60ppm),or
selenium (500ppm). California Proposition 65 Disclosure (Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986 Article 7, Section 12713(c)
(1): PTPC Kraft pulp, containerboard and paper are produced in accordance with these regulations. Warning notification or product labeling is
Canadian Food Inspection Agency: PTPC holds a current letter of nonobjection from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. A copy of this letter
is available upon request.
State of California Reductions of Toxics in Packaging /Coalition of Northeastern Governors (CONEG/):
PTPC certifies that all pulp, packaging and packaging components comply with the requirements of the toxics in packaging laws. The sum of
the incidental trace quantities of lead, cadmium, mercury, or hexavalent chromium in does not exceed 100 parts per million by weight. PTPC
will maintain adequate documentation of this certification for inspection upon request. We further certify that no materials used to replace
the heavy metals are present in a quantity or manner that creates a hazard as great as or greater than the hazard created by the regulated metals
European Union Directive 94/62/EC Article 11 (RoHS):
PTPC certifies that the Kraft pulp, paper and containerboard products produced at our facility meet the applicable standard restricting the
concentration of heavy metals present in packaging as less than 100 ppm and that no noxious or other hazardous substances as defined by
the act are intentionally added.
European Union REACH (Registration, Evaluation, and Authorization of Chemicals) Regulation as amended December 16, 2013:
Port Townsend Paper hereby certifies that is does not intentionally add any substance or process additives containing Substances of Very High
Concern (SVHCs) to any of our natural pulp products including Kraft paper and containerboard and we have no reason to believe they are present
in our paper.
All component chemicals in our products have been reviewed under the U.S. Toxic Substances Control Act regulations and Canadian Domestic
Substances List, as applicable and are acceptable for the intended use of these products.
FDA/ Latex Certification:
PTPC pulp, paper and containerboard products are not manufactured using nor, to the best of our knowledge do they contain natural rubber or
natural latex compounds as defined in 21 CFR 801.437.
Ozone Depleting Substances:
Port Townsend Paper assures its customers that none of the class 1 or class 2 ozone depleting chemicals listed in 40 CFR Part 82, Appendix
A of the 1990 Clean Air Act are intentionally added or come in contact with any of our pulp, paper or containerboard products.
Dodd–Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act:
PTPC products do not contain Conflict Minerals including cassiterite, columbite-tantalite,
gold and wolframite or materials derived from these ores that is necessary to the functionality or production of the products.
Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals:
PTPC does not use any chemicals or chemical additives that contain known concentrations of any of the 68 compounds listed by the
EU in any of our pulp and paper manufacturing processes.
FDA Allergen Review: Port Townsend Paper Corporation does not knowingly add the following ingredients to its products as major
components but the use or presence of these ingredients are neither tracked nor tested: peanuts, tree nuts, sesame seeds, dairy
products, eggs, fish, mustard, peanuts, tree nuts, shellfish, soy products, wheat, gluten or tartrazine. The following substances are
known to exist in our products although the levels present are unknown and not tested: sulfites (from the Kraft (sulfate) pulping
process), corn products (from corn starch addition to paper)
Certification: As a part of a broad commitment to balancing
environmental responsibility and corporate growth PTPC has achieved certification to the independent SUSTAINABLE
FORESTRY INITIATIVE® Fiber Sourcing Standard for its pulp and paper facility at Port Townsend, Washington.
We hold certificate No : CERT-0091324 issued on January 14, 2010 and expiring on December 29, 2018.On June 25, 2015
the Port Townsend Group of Companies was certified to the Forest Stewardship Council – Chain of Custody and Controlled
Wood Standard CERT-0086218 expiring 7/3/2020. To verify that these certifications are current please refer to
