CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS – ILA AND USMX
Contract negotiations between the International Longshoremen’s Association
(ILA) and the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX) are at an impasse. The
contract covers dockworkers at East and Gulf Coast ports in the United States.
The current contract expires September 30, 2012. Further negotiations are not
scheduled, but the ILA is asking USMX to make a final offer for the union’s
consideration. Some freight may be able to route through West Coast and/or
Canadian ports.
